On its own, Kale contains 33 calories and less than 1 gram of fat per cup. Compare this to the 150 calories and more than 10 grams of fat from potato chips, and its easy to see why Kale Chips are the better healthy choice.

A major health benefit from cooking Kale Chips is that it retains all the nutritional value of the kale, creating a low-calorie, nutrient-dense snack.

  • 1 x bunch of Organic Kale
  • 1/3 x cup of olive or coconut oil
  • Garlic Powder
  • Ground Turmeric
  • Himalayan or Celtic Salt
(nutritional yeast for vegan / non-dairy cheesy chips

  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees C.
  2. Tear the Kale leaves from the large stems.
  3. Wash the leaves in water and dry off thoroughly with paper towels.
  4. Massage the olive or coconut oil into the Kale leaves so they are fully coated, but not drowned.
  5. Cover in salt, turmeric and garlic powder.
For non-dairy cheese Kale chips coat in salt and nutritional yeast instead.
  6. Spread out on a non-stick baking tray or baking paper lined tray and cook on a low heat for 10-15 minutes so your Kale leaves are crisp but not burnt.
  7. After removing from the oven, allow to cool for 3 minutes then serve immediately for best taste.
